Camper choice is central to our programming: the schedule is flexible with free time and choice periods build into the daily plan. Strong cabin groups are built through working and playing together. With about 90 campers, Killooleet is small enough so everyone comes to know each other and friendships develop between campers of different ages who share interests. Half of our activities are in sports (waterfront, archery, softball, soccer, basketball, tennis, horseback riding, ultimate frisbee, etc.) and half in arts (music, art, ceramics, silverwork, drama, video, woodworking, stained glass, fabric). Cheerio on the New River specializes in one week camp sessions of unforgettable adventures. The camp is for boys and girls ages 10-16. The beauty of having 150 acres surrounded by the New River, it gives campers the opportunity to experience as much adventure as possible without having to leave the camp property! This summer we will be bringing some of the off-site trips back home while also offering our traditional activities.

Staff must be available for the full summer, which includes 10 days of staff training, two 4-week terms, and then a one week specialty camp.
Counselors live with campers and teach in a specific activity area. Support Staff work in an specific area such as directors, assistant directors, barn crew, transportation crew, office, stores, media team, childcare, and medical team, and live in Support Staff housing (not with campers).
Room and board is provided for all positions and staff members are expected to live on site. Uniform shirts are provided for days when parents are at camp (3-4 times per term) and staff must provide their own khaki/tan pants/shorts/skirt. All staff have one day off and one night off each week.
